Hopeton Interiors
Last weekend we visited Hopeton Interiors in Port Melbourne to try and get some idea of the colours we would like.
We found this trip pretty successful coming away with almost everything chosen, even if it did take all day.
When we arrived we were given a tour of the show room and shown what was standard and what the upgrade options were and then we were left to have a look around ourselves and choose some combinations that we liked.
The staff there were very friendly & very helpful and we were given a client wish list to fill out which out lined everything that needed to be decided on.
We found the exterior of the house fairly easy as we had done alot of resaerch on the internet of colour combinations and were lucky enoughto come across some pictures of a house that had the bricks we liked and also a list of the gutter, down pipe colours that had been used. We also visted a Boral display centre where they gave us a list of houses that had used the colour brick we liked so we had spent hours driving around and looking at the bricks as well as the colour combinations they had used wih it.
Next was the front door, we had an upgrade front door as part of our package so we had more options to choose from and luckily we both choose the same door as our favourite!
Another great thing about Hopeton was they had lists of all the colours that had been used in display homes so if there was a kitchen or a bathroom or another room that you like in a display home the staff could tell you exactly what colours had been used.
We had found a kitchen that we liked in a display home so found out what had been used, unfortunately the Caesar stone bench tops that had been used were an upgrade but we were able to find something similar in our category & still use the same laminex colour for the cabinets
We took a break & had some lunch and decided to visit National Tiles which is just around the corner from Hopeton. We choose a few tiles we liked and took some samples back to Hopeton to try and work out our wet area colours.
We found this a bit more difficult as we didn't really have a display or pictures to base it on but again the staff were helpful and talked us through or decisions and we are now feeling a lot more confident with what we have chosen.
One thing that was frustrating at Hopeton was they didn't have access to the prices of any upgrades, so if you decide to upgrade you really have no idea how much it is going to cost at this stage of the process.
Under Hopeton is the Birk Blinds showroom so we had a look in there and got a quote for our window furnishing we had previously obtained quite a few quotes and Birk was comparable in price so I think we will get our blinds from there as this means they can be included in the building contract and we wont have to worry about them later.

The Drysdale 28
We spend a lot of time looking for the perfect home at a reasonable price
The main things we wanted in the house were looking for were:
- 4 bedrooms
- A theatre/Living room that could be closed off from the rest of the house
- The toilet / Bathroom located close to the living areas i.e not down a long hallway
- The master bedroom to be away from the other 3 bedrooms
- An alfresco area
The things that we wanted but were not essential were
- A study
- A Rumpus room
- A walk in Pantry
- A large laundry
- 2 Walk in robes in the Master Ensuite
We were very happy when we came across the Drysdale 28 as it included everything we were looking for and most of the things that we wanted & we were even happier to find out they they had a very good deal on at the time with allowed us many upgrades.
Although we are making a few small changes which i will detail later
The Beginning
On the 11th July 2011 we signed contracts to purchase our block of land (off the plan) in Bannockburn. Settlement of of block occurred on 1st March 2012.
Since signing the land contracts we have been looking at many different plans from different builders and finally on Saturday 25th August 2012 we made the decision to build
