Construction - Week 13

This week is turning into a very slow & frustrating week, the painters have been delayed at another job & we are now being told they won't start until next week. :(

Basically nothing much has or will be done this week apart from a little bit of sanding

  1. Hi Belinda,

Hows the progress coming along? Are you happy with the overall result? Always interested in another Drysdale 28 as we too are building this house plan.

    Cheers,

    Neil

  2. Hi Neil,

overall we are pretty happy with the way things are coming along although i am not enjoying the delay with the painters at the moment, we have been told they will be starting every week for the last 3 weeks and still nothing which is dissapointing but once again we have been told this week. The kitchen cabinets have been our main problem. It is written in our contact that thy are to go the full length bt the drawings show otherwise & the discrepancy wasnt picked up by anyone (inc. us) so they are looking into it & hopefull it will be changed. Our SS has been fantastic changing a few things for us along the way & is very helpful, admin on the otherhand is a different story....

    1. Hi Belinda,

Its interesting reading your blog and some of the issues you have with PD. Looking at your cabinet photos looks like you were caught out. We went through 7 revisions to get this right (we have now posted pictures) with extended length on cupboards and 90mm bulkhead for the cornice. It seems that the admin people are hopeless are stressful to deal with.

We, at one stage, had to go above our Building Coordinator to get things right.

Now, we thought our Site Supervisor was good until we caught him out. Seems our independent inspectors reports were not attended to and repairs not carried out.

After receiving yet another invoice for a stage not completed correctly, we delayed payment. One way to get their attention I guess.

We can only hope that the final quality is high and things run smoothly towards the end.
