Construction - Week 19

 

Monday 29th April 2013
 

Today the shower screens in the bathroom & ensuite have been installed

Tuesday 30th April 2013

The bathroom & ensuite mirrors were put in today and although I didn't notice at first it makes a big difference. In the bathroom we extended the mirror to go the full length over the bath which I'm glad we did as it makes the bathroom feel a lot bigger than it is.

 

 

 

The bath has not been installed and the other day had a note on it saying the cut out was too small, today it looks like the cut out has been measured ready to be made bigger.

 

 

 

Another change today was the temporary fencing has been taken away ready for the site to be cleared which our building supervisor told us would happen later this week.

The expanding stuff that goes in the brickwork was also done today

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 1st May 2013

 

Not much to see today, just a clean up of the site.

 

 

Friday 3rd May & Saturday 4th May 2013

 

 

The most exciting thing to happen this week is defiantly the timber flooring. I'm very happy with the way it has come up. On Friday the entry, kitchen, dining, lounge & study was laid with the Rumpus & edging being finished on Saturday.

 

 

 

 



SS Update

 

 

I have just spoken to our Site Supervisor and have booked in our Practical Completion Inspection for the 17th May which is exciting but unfortunatly still a couple of weeks away. We have been told that handover should be 7-10 days after that. 

Construction - Week 18 Continued

Wednesday 24th April 2013

This week is turning out to be a very productive week, today was dominated by plumbing.

The basins have been installed in both the ensuite & bathroom

 

 

 

both the toilets have been installed

 

 

The shower railes have been installed in both the bathroom & ensuite

 

 

and the bath taps, but no bath

 

 

All external taps have also been installed by the plumber will still need to come back to do the laundry taps.

 

 

 The heating vents were also finished today as well as the return air vent & the control was installed

 

 

 

Thursday 25th April 2013

 

Today is Anzac Day so we wern't expecting anything to be done today but got a text message from my mum who had driven past the house to say someone was working so we went out later to see what had been done.

 

The walk in robe, wardrobes in the bedrooms, pantry and linen press have all been fitted out with rails and shelves.

 



 

 

 

When we were there there were also cleaners in cleaning the windows & cupboard shelves & also someone putting insulation in the roof.

Construction - Week 18

Monday 22nd April 2013

 

Electrical

 

We were excited to see that something has actually been done at our house today. The electrician has been in & installed the lights, light switches, power points, smoke detectors & bathroom/ensuite/toilet fans, TV points & data points

 

We were lucky to be able to get inside and have a chance to check that everything has been done that was meant to be done, all the lights seem to be connected to the right switches & everything seems to be in the right place. My only concern is that in all 4 bedrooms we have added provisions for future fans in our electrical contract theses seems to look different to the normal lights & appear to have a double switch however in the house they dont so i will need to look into this & make sure it has been done.

 

We didnt include any external lights but did include the wiring for us to add the lights at a later date. We have also added a few external weather proof power points that were also put in today.

Today all the door handles & door stops have been fitted

 

 

 

 

Finally the 40mm Casar Stone for the island bench in the kitchen came today and the kitchen sink has also been installed

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Construction - Week 17

 

Wednesday 17th April 2013

 

Well despite advise from our Site Supervisor that there is only 3 weeks left til our PCI nothing has been done at the house for a week now, still leaving alot to do in such a short time.

 

We have also noticed that the Magpie vent that in meant to be in the laundry is not there and since it needs to go through the brickwork & Plaster, i would have thought this is something that would have been done by now...have left a message for SS to call to see whats going on with this....


.....Have spoken with SS and have now been told all trades have been booked to do their respective fit offs and PCI will be mid May, very frustrating as we were originally told hand over would be end of April now we are looking at end of May at best. Regarding the Magpie vent we are being told this will be done post PCI which seems very strange. Still nothing done at the house today.


Thursday 18th April 2013

Today the Casar Stonew bench tops were put in in the Bathroom, Ensuite & the back bench in the Kitchen, The 40mm front bench in the kitchen is still to come.

SS Update

 

 

I spoke to our Site Supervisor today, he advised the tiles will be completed by the end of this week & our Practical Completion Inspection will be approximatly 3 weeks after.

 

There is still quite a bit to get done in this time the main things that i can think of being:

 

- Caesar Stone Benches (there has been a hold up with these and the are expected by the end of next week)

- Garage Door

- Electrical fitout
- Plumbing Fitout
- Wardrobe & cupboard fitouts
- Carpet
 - Laminate Flooring
- External painting including render
- door handles
- Fly Screens



Construction - Week 16

Monday 8th April 2013

 

Today the rest of the floor tiles were laid as well as the top of the bath. The titles skirting is still to be done as is the showers & splashbacks in both the bathrooms & laundry


Tuesday 9th April 2013

Today the titled skirting & the grout in the Laundry was completed, leaving only the splash back to be done in this room

 

In the toilet & bathroom the tiled skirting was also completed, the tiles on the side of the bath have been done minus 1 tile (i'm not sure why) & the shower has been tiled as well but hasn't got grout.

 

No tiling has been done in the ensuite today.

 

 

Wednesday 10th April 2013

 

Today was more tiling, the ensuite skiting has been complete and the floor grouted. The shower has also been tiled but is still waiting for grout.

 

 

 

The toilet appears to be complete as well as the bathroom apart from the tiled splashback as we are waiting for the bench tops to arrive which have been delayed and wont be here until the end of next week

 

The laundry has also been finished and we are very happy with the way it has all come together.

 

 

 

Construction - Week 15

Tuesday 2nd April 2013

 

 

Today it appears the internal painting has been finished

 

 

 

 

& the external painting has been started, the alfresco ceiling has been painted as well as the portico ceiling

 

 

 

We have also had a delivery of tiles

 

 

 

It has been nice to visit our house and actually see some progress after a very slow couple of weeks.

 

 

 

Wednesday 3rd April 2013

 

Today the water proofing for the bath & both the showers was done

 

 

 

Thursday 4th April 2013

 

The tiles in all the wet areas were started today. It appears that only full tiles have been laid, where the titles that require cutting to size will go have not been started. Some of the pictures make the tiles look more browny but they are actually a grey colour. No grout has been done either.
